About this book

This book follows the Beekeeping Study Notes (Basic) (brown cover), Practical (red cover) and Microscopy (blue cover) examinations. It addresses every topic of the first 3 Modules, and it is intended to cut down the amount of time would be candidates spend searching out the information in the formidable number of books listed in the BBKA Recommended Book List.

The Authors are pleased to note that Module 1 dealing with Honeybee Management now includes sections on the variable temperament of bees in relation to management and public relations together with the actions to avoid bad tempered bees causing a nuisance to the public. Both are vital new topics introduced as a result of the redrafting of the syllabi. Module 2, Honeybee Products and Forage, remains largely unchanged except for the regulations. Module 3 concerned with diseases of the honeybee provides the most up to date information on varoosis, as it is now called.

The Authors state that they have treated the subject in a depth greater than that required for the present examinations because the discoveries and treatments are still in a state of flux and are likely to be for some time to come. Module 4 has now been removed by the BBKA Examination Board. The Authors are very well qualified to prepare this work. They are both BBKA Examiners and Master Beekeepers well
familiar with the problems that confront students and candidates.
