About this book

Language: English

In the year 2000 the author, Jongerling, received 2 male specimens of Morpho cisseis (C. & R. Felder, 1860), collected in Rondonia, Brazil. These two specimens seem to be a perfect mix between the nominate race in Brazil and the ssp. cissestricta from Bolivia. These two specimens are described here as Morpho cisseis rondoniensis.

The 36 plates give an overview of Morpho hercules, telemachus, amphitryon, hecuba and cisseis. In order to keep this part at a reasonable price, only a selection of the subspecies is shown. Two supplements with a more detailed text and illustrations of all subspecies known will be published. The authors also expect some changes in the nomenclature of M. hecuba and M. cisseis, which will be published in the supplement.
