A Microsoft Windows-based program for PCs giving easy access to spatial information about the British countryside. The Countryside Information System (CIS) uses the kilometre squares of the Ordnance Survey National Grid as a framework. The datasets supplied with CIS include counties and administrative regions, and land cover information from satellite and national field survey. Other datasets are available for use in CIS, or can be added by the user.
