About this book

Language: Trilingual in English, German and Latin

This invertebrate dictionary includes the majority of invertebrates found in the German-speaking areas of Europe for which vernacular names already exist. In addition, a variety of important global species is listed. The names of the 12,800 invertebrates listed here are arranged according to large groups and in each case alphabetically by scientific name – supplemented by their English vernacular names, if available. It is based on a comprehensive literature review of encyclopedic works, faunas, nature guides, red lists and monographs of individual groups of animals. This reference work is not only helpful and important for scientists, translators and journalists, but also for those who deal with animals in a variety of ways.
