About this book

Softcover reprint of the original 1st edition from 1991.

Whilst most accounts of Galapagos life have focused on terrestrial fauna and flora, Galapagos Marine Invertebrates reviews the major invertebrate phyla found in the waters of the islands including meiofauna, annelids, coelenterates, crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms, bryozoa and marine cave fauna. Other chapters summarize data on the genera and species of shallow-water invertebrates, biogeographic affinities of species, localities and habitats, abundance-controlling factors, evolutionary relationships with species from other parts of the world, the El-Nino and Galapagos coral reef development, taphonomy and paleoecology of the Urvina Bay uplift, and the relationship of the Galapagos islands to oceanographic processes in the tropical Pacific.
