About this book

Language: French

This original work addresses the question of the `participative approach' in natural resource management and development in central Africa. The contributions are relevant to the current debate on environmental governance in the region: Cameroon, Gabon, Central Africa Republic, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad.

The texts are based on the interdisciplinary study of concrete initiatives applied to social forestry, community forestry, protected areas and peri-urban space. An analysis of local associations and the potentialities that offer participative approaches in the field is also proposed in the work.

This publication is a result of the research programme entitled `Enhancement of the Process of Environmental Governance in Central Africa' (GEPAC), financed by the European Commission and carried out by the Centre d'Anthrolopologie culturelle de l'ULB, with the participation of the CIRAD.
