About this book

This book examines the environmental benefits of urban living through the author's experiences of living in New York City. His core thesis is that if Americans really want to reduce their impact on the planet, they need to live closer together, in places more like Manhattan. To most eyes, New York doesn't look very green, but he shows that it is, because people live in apartments that are inherently easier to heat than houses, and mostly walk or use public transport.
