About this book

Contains the names employed for Erica species and subspecific taxa that are indigenous in Africa (south of the Tropic of Cancer) and adjacent islands of the southern Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The majority of species occur in the Western Cape Province, South Africa, and these have long been referred to as the "Cape heaths", or "Cape Ericas". This volume also includes the names of natural and artificial hybrids, "varieties" and cultivars of the Cape heaths.
Entries in this publication are in strict alphabetical sequence, their order being determined by the alphabetic sequence of, first, the genus and, then, the species to which they belong, and, thereafter, of the names of the ranks, as follows - cultivar; forma; species; subforma; subspecies; subvariety; variety.
