About this book

A colour landscape-based vegetation map is provided for the Caribbean island of Saba (Lesser Antilles). The results provide new insights into vegetation changes over a period of more than 40 years. These changes are discussed in the light of possible causal factors. The results provide excellent insight for nature management and spatial planning purposes.

Three main landscape types and nine sub-categories are distinguished based on geology, geomorphology and nine described component natural vegetation types. The present study is based on the interpretation of colour aerial photographs, subsequent fieldwork and computer analysis of the field data collected.
