This book describes for the first time all species of amphibians and reptiles that have gone extinct since the beginning of the Modern Age. A large majority of disappearances have occurred since the early twentieth century, coinciding with the exponential increase of human activity in the natural environment. Based on a thorough review of the scientific literature and other sources, the stories of these species and the causes that have led to their disappearance are told here. This second edition presents quite a few new features, the contents of the 2015 edition have been revised and updated.

Se describen por vez primera de manera conjunta todas las especies de anfibios y reptiles extinguidas desde el inicio de la Edad Moderna. Una gran mayoría de las desapariciones se han producido desde principios del siglo XX, coincidiendo con el incremento exponencial de la actividad humana sobre el medio natural. Basándose en una revisión exhaustiva de la bibliografía científica y otras fuentes, se narran las historias de estas especies y las causas que han originado su desaparición. Esta segunda edición present a bastandes novedades, ya que se han revisado, aumentado y actualizado los contenidos de la edición de 2015.
