About this book

The first half of Moons of the Solar System is devoted to earth's moon ("Luna"). General statistical data are followed by an alphabetical listing of such subjects as eclipses, lunar spacecraft landings, phenomena, mapping, and the hundreds of small and large surface features with the sources of their names.

The second half of Moons of the Solar System is about the 66 other known moons of the solar system, arranged alphabetically according to their accepted names as of February 1991. Each description includes the size of the moon, date of discovery and other statistical information. The photographs are supplied by the U.S. Geological Survey (Department of the Interior), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
