About this book

Volume 1 of this new series is authored by Dr Alexander Schintlmeister, Germany, the leading authority in these beautiful moths. The book is the first comprehensive work on Palaearctic Notodontidae since the famous work of Seitz work nearly a century ago. It covers in detail each of the approximately 520 species known from the Palaearctic Region.

In the systematic part of the volume, each species is dealt with in the following format: Scientific name with synonyms, Diagnosis, Bionomics, Distribution. Further there will be a distribution map to each species on which also nonpalaearctic distribution will be shown and there will be genitalia photos of the male and female of each species. On the high quality colour plates approx. 1500 specimens are illustrated covering the individual variety of the species as well as the variation between female and male.
