Plants are a tremendous source for the discovery of new products of medicinal values for drug development. Several distinct chemicals derived from plants are important drugs currently used in different parts of the world. Many of the drugs sold today are simple synthetic modifications or copies of the naturally obtained substances.

The present volume presents the role of plant compounds in the etiology of human diseases. Antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antitumour properties have been attributed to many compounds isolated from plants. Current interest in flavonoids have shown to possess a variety of biological and pharmacological activities in organisms. The results reported from Loranthus micranthus, Mucuna pruriens, Tithonia dirersifolia, Aloe, Vernonia amygdalina, and Thespesia populnea provides strong evidence for the anti-diabetic properties and related complications. Besides, the volume presents the efficacy of common herbs with respect to its therapeutic status in the diseases of Liver, Renal, Urinary Tract Infection, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Cancer, Cardiovascular.
