This book presents the rare bird species in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the form of 179 species entries, richly illustrated with photos, drawings and distribution maps, explaining the history of their occurrence during the past 200 years. Hundreds of recorders have described their birdwatching activities since the 1970s and submitted supporting documents in the form of photos, films or sound recordings. In addition, the literature that was left by the naturalists of the 19th century was evaluated. Here, the volunteer ornithologists of the Avifaunistic Commission of North Rhine-Westphalia have evaluated and compiled the results.

Dieses Buch stellt in Form von 179 Artsteckbriefen, reich bebildert und mit Karten illustriert, die einzelnen seltenen Vogelarten vor und erläutert die Geschichte ihres Auftretens während der vergangenen 200 Jahre. Hunderte Melder haben seit den 1970er Jahren ihre Vogelbeobachtungen beschrieben und Belege in Form von Fotos, Filmen oder Tonaufnahmen eingereicht. Zudem wurde die Literatur ausgewertet, die die Naturforscher des 19. Jahrhunderts hinterlassen haben. Jetzt haben die ehrenamtlichen Vogelkundler der Avifaunistischen Kommission die Ergebnisse ausgewertet und übersichtlich zusammengestellt.
