About this book

This work, compiled by the late D.H. Kent, although a supplement to his earlier Historical Flora of Middlesex (1975) stands in its own right as a flora.

It covers the Watsonian Vice-county 21 Middlesex, now largely Greater London north of the Thames. It includes a complete summary of the plants, mosses, liverworts and charophytes of the Vice-county, gives an indication of their status and frequency, and lists include all recent records up to 1999. Since 1975, 25 vascular plants have been lost, but another 25 species previously thought extinct have been refound, and there are 78 additional established aliens together with 130 new casual aliens. The Flora contains the first accurate detailed account of the bryophyte and the charophyte floras of Middlesex.

This flora is an essential work for anyone interested in the plants, mosses, liverworts and charophytes found in London or the old County of Middlesex.
