About this book

The tenth volume is the first within the Taxonomic Atlas series which includes larger groups of two different families. The first half contains the revision of those large parts of the Psaphidinae which have long been interpreted as members of the subfamily Acronictinae and Xyleninae (the subtribes Diphtherocomina and Nacnina, and certain newly discovered Psaphidinae genera). The second half is the second part of Toxocampinae (Erebidae), containing the Lygephila-Tathorhynchus and the Perinaenia-Isoura-Exophyla generic complexes, the sister-groups of the Autophila-Apopestes generic complex which has been treated in volume 7.

The book includes altogether 13 genera, two of them (Vigentinocome and Discibocome) are newly established. Vigentinocome is divided into four subgenera, Vigentinocome, Chrysocome, Criocome and Bryochlorome).

The Psaphidinae II, Erebidae II volume contains 101 text pages with the latest taxonomic information, full synonymy and effective diagnoses of all known Palaearctic and Oriental taxa, with the descriptions of two new subtribes, two new genera, three new subgenera and four new species, and numerous taxonomic and nomenclatural changes. The volume is illustrated with 28 colour plates of high quality magnified photos displaying all taxa included and 20 colour plates showing the variation of each taxon in natural size. The genitalia of all species and subspecies are shown in 107 black and white plates.

Volume 10 will be very useful for both the taxonomists, libraries of scientific institutes and professional amateur collectors, as well as for those naturalists who are interested in the true biodiversity of both the Eurasian Fauna and the nocturnal Lepidoptera.
