A total of 116 species and subspecies of the Zonitadae sensu lato, including Daudebardiidae and Gastrodontidae, have been found to occur in Greece, plus 5 or 6 which are probably new and not described to date. As many as 70 occur exclusively in Greece and most of them are narrow endemics. These numbers place Greece in the first position with respect to diversity and qualitative abundance of zonitid fauna.
