Two of the three genera of Liphyrini, Aslauga and Euliphyra, are found in Africa, and their taxonomy is updated. The update strongly relies on the study of male and female genitalia (about 600 preparations), but DNA barcoding was also used, and some 130 barcode compliant sequences were obtained. The combination of the two approaches helped clarify the relationships between species groups, and confirmed that both kallimoides and the species close to ernesti really belong to the genus Aslauga. It also revealed the existence of several new taxa, and 17 new species are described (13 Aslauga and 4 Euliphyra), as well as 6 new subspecies (respectively 5 and one). Most of the new taxa are in the ABRI collection. There are now 43 species (and 8 subspecies) of Aslauga, and 6 species (and 3 subspecies) of Euliphyra.
