About this book

Copiously illustrated with photographs and other graphics, the trends of all local species are individually described, with discussion of factors driving change and threats, pressures and opportunities for butterfly species in our local landscapes.

This book presents a further advance on knowledge of the butterflies of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Detailed analysis of over 700,000 records, comparing the ten-year period 2005–2014 with 1995–2004, highlights recent changes in distribution and abundance. Changes noted in previous atlases continue, with several species declining further in both distribution and population. There are some major changes – ranging from the dramatic loss of local populations of Wall to welcome increases in distribution and population of Silver-washed Fritillary.
