This book is an important contribution to Indian bryofloristics. Central India has been neglected by Indian bryologists, hence the present contribution is a worthy addition to our existing knowledge. The book covers the bryophytes of Amarkantak of Madhya Pradesh and Achanakmar sanctuary of Chhatisgarh. The book includes scientifically accurate taxonomic descriptions of 92 taxa belonging to 50 genera assigned to 30 families of Bryophytes, of which 69 species of mosses belonging to 35 genera of 18 families; 17 species of Hepaticae and 6 species of Anthocerotae are described. SEM studies are made on leaf like body surface of 20 species, Pohlia gedeana (Bosch. et al.) Gangulee a forms new addition to lndia and around 32 forms are new additions to central India. Data on occurrence, habitat relationship, biogeographic distribution pattern, morpho-taxonomy and other related  aspects are included.
