About this product

The Defender Niger Feeder is a metal feeder specifically designed to be used with niger seed. Niger seed is rich in oil, making it ideal to feed to birds during the colder months. Because of the small size of the seed, however, it requires the use of a feeder with a smaller gauge to minimise spillage.

The feeder is available with either four or six feeding ports each with a perching ring. These rings enable birds to feed in a more natural, forward facing position which allows them to maintain a watch for predators. This increases their confidence and means they will remain at the feeder for longer.

Due to its design, only small finches such as goldfinch and redpoll are able to use this feeder.

Birds love it!

Very well made and good quality, took a little while and a few different positions before we found the ideal spot. Now the finches love it – hanging over the patio on a tree away from the other feeders worked for us! Great value as well.
