About this book

The Red List of Mexican Cloud Forest Trees presents a review of the global conservation status of 762 species of trees found within the country's humid forests, generally between elevations of 1500 m and 2500 m. Cloud forests in Mexico and throughout the world are becoming increasingly threatened by high deforestation rates, changing land use patterns and the emerging threat of global change. The report's key finding, that 'over 60% of the trees in Mexican Cloud Forests are threatened with extinction', underlines the importance of this assessment and the urgent need to use its findings as a means to guide conservation action.
