About this book

Language: French

The known freshwater fauna of the Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia) includes about 80 taxa of macroinvertebrates and 14 species of fish.

The introduction specifies the main characteristics of the Marquesas rivers and the methods of studying aquatic animals applicable in these environments. After a general key, the faunistic groups are presented in a systematical order (Oligochaetes, Gastropods, Crustaceans, Decapods, Odonata, Diptera, Fishes). For each Order, a first key allows the identification of the main groups (generally at family level). A simplified but completely illustrated key is presented, after which, for certain families, keys follow allowing a more precise identification of the animals.

Bibliographical references, a faunistic list and an index complete this guide.

Une clé simplifiée mais complètement illustrée est présentée ensuite, puis, pour certaines familles, des clés permettant d'identifier plus finement les animaux.
