About this book

Just over 50 years ago, a small group of people met one cold November evening in a school hall in Oxford. This small band of naturalists understood that urgent action was needed to protect the natural world from threat, so they committed themselves to work to halt the needless destruction of the wild places and wildlife. And so the Wildlife Trust was born.

Today, the actions of those early pioneers of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) mean that a host of spectacular wild plants and animals can still be enjoyed in their natural habitats. This book showcases 50 of the species that have benefitted from the assistance of this group of conservationists.
