About this book

Language: Spanish

This book covers the central zone of Chile, defined as running from the basin of the river Choapa to the river Maule. The work is presented in two companion volumes.

The first includes the descriptions of plants with their scientific and vernacular names, family, conservation status, distribution and habitat, description, development, ornamental value and management requirements, propagation, uses and places where they can be seen. It also carries a chapter on simple propagation techniques, a list of indigenous names, a bibliography and glossary of botanical terms used. Each entry is accompanied by photographs that facilitate species identification. Some entries combine two or more similar species regarding propagation and management, noting their distinctive characters.

The second volume describes trails or routes to different places in the Central Zone, where you can observe and photograph wildlife of interest. Each trail is accompanied by a description of the route and photographs, and some maps. Also noted is the distance to be covered, the degree of difficulty and the approximate travel time, considering that the visitor will be identifying, recording and photographing; for each site there is a list of the most common species found, which may vary according to season or year to year.
