This guide identifies the 31 species of amphibians and their larvae and 83 species of reptiles, both native and introduced, found in the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. It contains identification keys, detailed drawings (204 of amphibians and 302 of reptiles) and photographs (95 of amphibians and 162 of reptiles) showing the most useful identification characters. With short texts, emphasis is placed on those characteristics that best distinguish some species from others. In addition, information on size, distribution, habitat, phenology, reproduction and conservation status is collected in a summarized way. A total of 112 up-to-date distribution maps are included, with 10 × 10 km UTM grids.
