About this book

Language: Italian

This volume reports the ornithological yearly observations carried out in the city of Turin by 44 observers from 1989 to 1999. During this survey more than 40,000 data have been collected and analysed to show the ecological and faunistic major characteristics of the Turin avifauna. The city has been subdivided into 61 topographical and ecological units. A total of 187 species have been recorded; for each a comment text and a distribution map are shown. These maps present different coloured thematic backgrounds, so that the most apparent relationships between species and urban habitats can be immediately appreciated. The great amount of data collected may be used for an urban planning which takes into account birds conservation priorities and may be also used to decide integrated interventions of flora and fauna conservation.
