Perspectives on Ecology is a critical analysis of the principal views on ecology including the neo-Malthusian, the expansionist, those of eco-development and of radical ecology comparing and evaluating their relative contributions to our understanding of this problem. It also examines how their respective assumptions about human nature affect the quality of their respective analyses and their proposals for change. In conclusion, it assesses the insights of political ecology as an alternative.
