About this book

The volume, being the last of the present series, was planned so as to include genomics and evolution of different categories of higher plants, not dealt with in earlier volumes. The book starts with repeated DNA and genome evolution followed by rice genomics, wheat and allies having being covered in the earlier volumes. The fundamental topics of wide impact also include evolution of sex chromosome complexity as also the role of organelle and nuclear DNA in genome evolution and diversity. A special feature of the book is genomics of trees including oak, chestnut, Eucalyptus and Azalea representing both temperate and tropical regions. This volume is unique as it covers, in a single volume, herbaceous agricultural crops on the one hand and ornamentals and important arboreal types on the other. Thus this book will benefit all those interested in molecular biology, genetics, evolution and biodiversity of all categories of higher plants.
