About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and French

This set contains two books and a short, 32-minute film. The five authors bring their personal vision of the Finnish taiga. From the first pages begins an artistic journey into the heart of the boreal forest, peat bogs and lakes, seen through the prism of photography, drawing and writing.

The book is the result of 10 years of work to discover in-depth the hidden world of the taiga. With the seasons and the sweet variations of colours, a beautiful part is taken by the great animals that are emblematic of the boreal forest: bears, wolves, wolverines, elks and grouse grace these pages and are the centerpieces of beautiful adventures lived and told by the authors.

This is all underpinned by a scientific and naturalistic approach. The most up-to-date knowledge of the functioning of this ecosystem accompanies the illustrations.

Large volume (also available separately):
Format 30 × 24 cm, 222 pages, hardback. Printing on art paper. The book features a hundred photographs by Thomas Roger and Olivier Larrey

Small volume:
Format 16 × 24 cm, 239 pages, hardback. Printing on art paper. The book includes a scientific text by Mervi Laaksonen, a watercolour book by Yves Fagnart and a chapter on Eero Kemilä's photographs and field stories.

The film:
During about 30 minutes the authors introduce you to their vision of the taiga in different seasons. With an intimate approach, the photographers and the illustrator share their field work, the passion for these large wild spaces that animate them, and will tell you some beautiful encounters they have had. A true immersion in the great boreal forest.

Grand volume:
Format 30*24 cm, 220 pages environ, reliure rigide.

Petit volume:
Format 16*24 cm, 250 pages environ, reliure rigide.
