Artificial otter holts provide safe refuge, encouraging otters to recolonise and breed in areas of waterways where there is little or no otter activity present. This Otter Holt is made from recycled plastics, enhancing durability and environmental friendliness. Designed in conjunction with Surrey Wildlife Trust and featured on BBC Springwatch and Countryfile, this specific design is a safe, low cost and easy to install alternative to concrete artificial otter holts. It is also a long lasting alternative to timber holts as it will not rot. 

The holt has both a front and a rear entrance hole and an internal chamber of 600mm x 600mm. This chamber size has been confirmed through research to be preferred by female otters when rearing their young, compared to other sizes of chamber. The top is crenelated to improve ventilation, so the holt can be partially buried and the top covered in turf or sticks.

The holt now comes as an easy-to-assemble flat-pack kit with instructions included.
