Biography

Carmel T. Madigan is a professional artist, author and habitat researcher. She is proprietor and tutor at the Loophead Summer Hedge School, an environmental and creative, leisure leaming Summer School which opens for July and August each year. Formal courses are also offered at the school. A graduate of the University of Limerick, and having grown up adjacent to the North East Atlantic coastline at Ross, Loophead, County Clare, Ireland, all her work has been strongly influenced by this wild, energetic, unkempt, textured and heavily detailed environment. As a result, her art desires to capture its wild essence, her research work plunges deep for under storey detail, and her writing vividly expresses her passion for her subject matter. Such correlations reflect directly back to the oceans continuous backdrop and influences.
