About this book

Language: Finnish with English chapter summaries

Many mushrooms are of excellent value as indicators of habitat protection. They are not always threatened with extinction or particularly rare species, but for their growth demand features that are ecologically valuable and only found in endangered habitats.

The book Sienet ja Metsien Luontoarvot presents a scoring system for 545 indicator mushroom species to determine ecologically valuable wooded habitats. The species determination section describes the specific terms carefully, and includes color photographs of 147 species of fungi. The main focus is on Agaricales, Boletaceae, Ramaria (coral fungi) and hedgehog mushrooms. The book describes two species of fungi new to science.

Summary in Finnish:

Kirjassa kuvataan tieteelle kaksi uutta sienilajia.
