The Genus Chicoreus and Related Genera (Gastropoda: Muricidae) in the Indo-West Pacific

About this book

The genus Chicoreus, and the related genera Chicomurex and Naquetia include the most beautiful species and are among the most popular genera in the family Muricidae. However, the species have always been, and still are subjects of misidentifications, especially due to their elaborate ornamentation and polymorphism. Many new species have been described recently. The present revision covers 80 living and fossil species, included in 3 genera and 5 subgenera. All the species are systematically revised and abundantly illustrated. The recent species are redescribed and their distribution mapped.
