About this product

A special 50-minute film which unveils the secrets behind this landmark series. lt shows how specialist cameramen filmed extraordinary sequences inside the body using a mixture of techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy endoscopes and medical scans.

It demonstrates how computer graphics designers were then able to translate these medical scans into three-dimensional images.

Time-lapse photography and motion capture techniques were also used to create some of the series most remarkable and famous sequences, for example time-lapse photography was used to capture a baby's teeth bursting through the gums, over a period of 40 days. One of the most delightful sequences in the series, shows several babies swimming underwater and the The Making of The Human Body shows how this was done using the magic of chromakey which allowed technicians to make the babies' mothers and helpers, dressed in blue, disappear from the final film.
