Language: Chinese with scientific nomenclature

Based on the criteria for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, this report is the first time that all native birds in Taiwan have been assessed for inclusion on the national red list. A total of 627 species of candidate birds were included in the assessment, of which 311 were not applicable, leaving 316 for the assessment process. As a result, there are 52 species or sub-species of Nationally Threatened birds, of which there are 6 species or subspecies in the Nationally Critical category. There are 13 species or subspecies in the Nationally Endangered category. There are 33 species or subspecies in the Nationally Vulnerable category, and 31 species or subspecies nationally near-threatened. The number of threatened and near-threatened birds accounted for 16.5% and 9.8% of the assessed number of birds, respectively, and 8.3% and 4.9% of the total number of birds. There are 37 species that are globally threatened present in Taiwan, 14 of which are threatened in Taiwan, one occurs near Taiwan close, and 22 are not present in Taiwan.
