This volume covers two species of venomous lizard and 145 species of venomous snake, the first such book to be published. It opens with three sections on the medical aspects of snakebite. Then follow regional accounts for Mexico and Central America, the Caribbean Islands and South America, with keys to each region's venomous species. The final section contains the species accounts. Each gives key identification characteristics, local names, distribution, similar species, variants and bibliography. Mimics and mildly venomous species are also covered.
