This guide present all 860 European bird species in one volume, including breeding, wintering, migratory, but also rare species. All species are illustrated, including those seen only once in Europe, or those that will likely be seen in the near future.

A description of the species is given as well as information about its voice, habitat and distribution in 475 distribution maps. One or more photographs are included with the bird cut out from their background and arrows indicating specific features that can be observed easily and to correctly identify the species. Moreover, confusion species are shown in comparative photographs.
