For the first time, all the New World members of the whirligig beetle genus Dineutus Macleay, 1825 are treated in a single published work. This monograph treats all 18 species and 6 subspecies of the genus found in the New World, providing dorsal and ventral habitus images of both sexes, illustrations of the male genitalia from three different views, and introduces a new external species-specific character – the male mesotarsal claws. Identification keys are provided for the genera of whirligig beetles, and for all species and subspecies of the genus Dineutus, within the New World. General distribution maps are also included in the work as are lectotype designations for several species. The primary goal of this monograph is to allow for the accurate identification of any member of Dineutus within the New World.
