About this book

New taxonomic, distribution, and habitat data are presented for species belonging to 51 families of Coleoptera from New Brunswick and Canada, including a checklist of all the species currently known from New Brunswick. New distributional records are presented mostly from New Brunswick but also from other provinces of Canada and a few states in the United States. For New Brunswick, 303 species and one new subspecies are newly recorded. Among these are 32 species new to science, four new North American records, 21 new Canadian records, and 45 adventive species. Seven new synonyms are proposed for the family Ciidae. Significant new biological information is provided for many species. The history of collecting in New Brunswick is also reviewed. This volume, focusing on Coleoptera biodiversity of New Brunswick, contributes new and important baseline data, and significant updates on the known Coleoptera fauna of other provinces of Canada.
