In this edition: we highlight The Amphibians & Reptiles of Scotland, an excellent guide with a wealth of information on identification and distribution of all the native and wild-breeding species in Scotland. Also featured are: Mabberley’s Plant-Book, a portable dictionary of plants; Drawdown, which contains the hundred most substantive solutions to combat climate change and Kalahari Cheetahs, one of the first comprehensive studies of cheetah biology.
On the blog, our catalogue editor Leon Vlieger continues his series on polarised discussions in science, with this week’s post covering the arguments surrounding evolutionary biology. We also take a look at one of our local bird ringing groups, based at Slapton Ley, and show how they have been using some of our spare pallets.

However, like all large carnivores, it is increasingly threatened by habitat loss and its status is now classified as 'Vulnerable' by the IUCN. Kalahari Cheetahs is the first comprehensive study of cheetah biology, and documents a wealth of direct observations of cheetah population biology and behavioural ecology.
