About this book

Language: French

This work presents the geographical distribution and the flowers pollinated by Apoidea in Gabon, based on entomological collections made by the author between 1984 and 1987. There are now 178 species recognized there but the inventory will exceed 200 species when all the material has been identified (the Hylaeinae, part of Ceratinini and some Megachilidae have not yet been assigned). Several distribution patterns in the country are highlighted, especially in relation to altitude, vegetation (forest or savannah) and the Atlantic influence (endemic species of the central Atlantic coast). Pollinators are mentioned for 372 plant species. A new species of Halictidae of West and Central Africa is described: Halictus (Seladonia) togoensis. Geographic coordinates of locations of Gabon are specified for the information of entomologists who study other groups of invertebrates collected by the author.
