A total of 105 epipelagic and mesopelagic species have been reported from the Israeli coasts of the Mediterranean Sea and from the Gulf of Aqaba at the northern end of the Red Sea. Of the 99 Mediterranean species, 51 are newly reported for this sea, while of the 46 Red Sea species, 37 are reported here for the first time.
The Atlas presents original drawings of the species. Important structural details of the mouthparts and legs are added to the classic features consired in Hyperiidea taxonomy.
The large number of species treated in this atlas makes it a basic tool for identification of the Hyperiidea the world over.
