The genus Vanda of orchidaceae family is one of the most popular groups of orchids. Out of the 40 species of Vanda, which are mainly distributed in the Indo-Malayan region, India is known to possess a total of 12. Based on extensive field study & laboratory studies, the present work is an attempt to bring out clearly the present status, biodiversity, phemology, palynology, seed morphometry, & cytology of all the species of Indian Vanda. The work also attempts to study the basic chromosome number alongwith a thorough karyotype study of the Indian species of Vanda. The text of Orchids of India, Volume 3 has been illustrated through photographs & diagrams & appended with a list of about 300 references.
