Biogents has created an all-in-one solution for configuring traps to capture any and all species of mosquito. This trap can be used for both control, and monitoring, with even greater flexibility in types of CO2 sources than it's predecessors. It is compatible with Biogents' CO2 and light attractants alongside their range of sent lures and is designed to allow EVS, CDC, and Sentinel trap style configurations for research, monitoring and control tasks. With the option to set the trap up on the ground or in a hanging position, the BG-Pro is suitable for use in any environment.
When combined with one of Biogents' specially formulated scent lures, the BG-Pro All-in-One trap works by emulating both human scent and the convection currents that move air around a human body. Mosquitoes are then drawn into the trap via a funnel, into a catch bag with the help of the suction caused by the ventilator. The trap is also large enough to incorporate additional attractants (for example animal hairs, worn clothing, small animals, food, light and heat sources) making it a very versatile tool. The air currents produced by the fan and design of the trap are similar to the convection currents produced by a human host, both in their direction, their geometrical structure, and also in their chemical composition, due to the addition of a Biogents mosquito attractant, either the BG-Lure or BG-Sweetscent Mosquito Attractant.
Catch rates can be further improved and the range of species expanded with the use of Biogents' Carbon Dioxide Upgrade Set, working synergistically with scent luers to multiply cach rates. UV light add-ons are also available and can be used to tailor the trap towards catching midges or other biting insects.
