Mosquitoes can identify and locate humans using carbon dioxide and skin scent cues. The Biogents BG-Lure Mosquito Attractant is an articifial scent that has been carefully blended to replicate the balance of components in human skin scent. The BG-Lure mixes ammonia, lactic acid and caproic acid in quantities that provide an excellent emission profile that is particularly attractive to tiger mosquitoes (disease vectors for pathogens such as Yellow fever virus and dengue fever) and is effective without an additional carbon dioxide lure. The Biogents BG-Lure comes in a granular form in a plastic cartridge that releases the volatile components in a controlled emission rate. The cartridge has a plastic cover that protects the contents from washing out as a result of rain and avoids the need to handle the contents. We recommend replacing the BG-Lure cartridge after five months of use.

Non toxic but irritating to eyes and skin.

Effective on the following species without carbon dioxide:

* Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes polynesiensis
* Culex quinquefasciatus and other species from the Culex pipiens complex
