About this book

The present work catalogues all species known from India, systematically placing them under appropriate genera and family. Since, lack more recent revisionary work on taxonomy of India Land Molluscs; the placement of species under different genera in some of the families is rather provisional. Annotated Checklist of Indian Land Molluscs was mainly based on the literature available on Indian Land Molluscs, specimens present in the National Zoological Collections of Zoological Survey of India, and the material received in Mollusca sections for identification from different parts of the country. Classification followed in Annotated Checklist of Indian Land Molluscs is that of Vaught (1989). All the genera are placed as per the arrangement made by the authors i.e. the type genus first and then all others in the alphabetical order. The synonyms, the 1st reference followed by almost all Indian references as much as possible along with the distribution of each species.
