About this book

Language: English

The most important work on the distribution of European amphibians and reptiles ever published, and the result of a huge effort over 12 years co-ordinated by the Societas Europaea Herpetologica and the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris). Each of the 62 amphibian and 123 reptile species is represented by a distribution map using 50 × 50km UTM meshes, together with a description (taxonomy, population status and conservation problems). These are supplemented by a bibliography containing more than 1300 entries. Information concerning the extinction or introduction of cetain species is also shown on the distribution maps. The second edition provides a review of the taxonomic and nomenclatural changes that have occured during the last 10 years.
