About this book

This volume presents the first attempt to compile botanical information of particular relevance for managing and conserving the flora of the Galápagos Islands. It comprises the majority of papers presented at the International Workshop on Botanical Research and Management in the Galápagos, organized by the Charles Darwin Research Station and the Galápagos National Park Service, 11-18 April 1987.

Eighty-eight scientists, managers, and naturalists from ten different countries gathered in the Galápagos to discuss and explore how the disciplines of the botanical sciences can be translated into practical conservation management. The recommendations for future actions formulated by the workshop participants are included at the end of this volume.
