About this book

This addition to Dave Gosney's Finding Birds is based mostly on his observations in France in May and June 2022. It details exactly where to find the best birds along the French coastline between the Camargue and the Pyrenees including the areas around Narbonne, Leucate and Perpignan.

Dave Gosney writes: "This part of France has so far had little attention from visiting birders but it is home to a number of key species including Little Bustard, Lesser Kestrel, Bonelli's Eagle, Eagle Owl, Moustached Warbler, Great Spotted Cuckoo and Pallid Swift plus a number of others that just creep into France from Iberia: Thekla Lark, Iberian Green Woodpecker, Spotless Starling and Purple Swamphen. I was surprised that some species such as Roller, Rock Sparrow and Western Orphean Warbler were relatively 'easy' and I managed to find some sites where desperately declining species such as Black-eared Wheatear, Short-toed Lark, Ortolan Bunting and Rock Thrush could still be found"
